Lwazi Kana, better known as Lwaistar, is a talented rapper, writer, and music producer from King William's Town, Eastern Cape. His musical journey is a story of passion, resilience, and artistic evolution.
Lwazi's musical journey began as a DJ before he transitioned to writing and producing music. In 2014, he moved to Port Elizabeth to study at Nelson Mandela University, where his artistic vision expanded. Immersing himself in the city's vibrant music scene, he joined OTE Artistry, a platform dedicated to supporting local talent. Through OTE, Lwazi not only honed his skills but also hosted and performed at events like 'Night of The Elite,' giving emerging artists a stage to shine.
In 2015, Lwazi released his first mixtape, 'Paradise Eventually,' featuring collaborations with artists such as M2Kane, Isaac Wilson, and EezyThaDon. This project was a reflection of his growth as an artist and his life experiences in Port Elizabeth. Two years later, in 2017, he teamed up with EezyThaDon for a joint project titled 'The Antidote.' One of the standout tracks from the project, 'Umgqibelo,' caught the attention of renowned cinematographer Ofentse Mwase, who directed the song's music video.
In 2019, Lwazi relocated to Johannesburg to explore more opportunities in the music industry. There, he continued working as a producer and mixer for various artists, including Mandisa Nduna, also known as Zulumecca. In April 2020, he released 'Paradise Collection,' a compilation of previously unreleased tracks created during his time in Port Elizabeth.
