This is a heavy loss, not just for his family but for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Stigaz wasn’t just an artist—he was a brother to many. Even though we met through music, the relationships he built in Gqeberha were stronger than just collaborations; they were bonds like family.
Today, the Afrikaans Hip-Hop community in Gqeberha mourns the heartbreaking loss of one of our own—Stigaz Vani Baai. A young legend, a brother, and a true artist, Stigaz was taken from us in a tragic accident while traveling back to Pretoria from Gqeberha. Even more devastating, his brother, who was with him, is in the ICU.
This is a heavy loss, not just for his family but for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Stigaz wasn’t just an artist—he was a brother to many. Even though we met through music, the relationships he built in Gqeberha were stronger than just collaborations; they were bonds like family.
A Message from the Heart
Lakfit broke the news to me about your passing through a text, and it didn’t sit well with me at all. Reading those words hit me like a punch to the chest. I know he’s torn to shreds by this loss. You two weren’t just collaborators; you were brothers in every sense of the word. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain he’s feeling right now.
We hadn’t been talking much lately, just chatting here and there. Life has a way of pulling people in different directions, but that never changed the respect I had for you. And now, knowing there won’t be another chance to catch up properly—it hits different.
The way you built relationships in this city wasn’t just about music. It was about loyalty, family, and respect. That’s what made you special.
The Legacy You Leave Behind
While in the city, Stigaz was doing what he loved—collaborating, catching up with fellow artists and friends, and making an impact. His energy, passion, and dedication to the culture were unmatched. He brought people together, not just through music but through the way he carried himself. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on.
Honoring Stigaz Through His Music
The best way to remember Stigaz is through his music. His words, his flow, and his passion live on in every track he ever recorded. Let’s keep his spirit alive by listening to his music and sharing it with the world:

Rest Easy, King
May you rest easy, King. You were truly one in a million. Today, we grieve, but we also celebrate the life you lived and the impact you had on all of us. Your name will never be forgotten in Afrikaans Hip-Hop, and your spirit will always be felt in the streets of Gqeberha.
Till we meet again in another lifetime.
